We had Eilidh at our school this week as a guest speaker. She was talking about how to succeed at interviews. I really enjoyed the talk and found the questions and answers helpful. Her stories were interesting and funny too!
Our whole UCAS day was a lot of fun - wish we had more days like this.

Thank you HL! I've been coming to Helsby High for about 5 years now and it is one of the highlights of my school work.
Am introducing a new programme called "Finding Your Voice" which is about giving people the confidence and skills to speak in public. It is designed to enhance the interview sessions.
Really hope Helsby takes up this workshop for the students.
Good luck with your future plans.
Have fun!

I had a big interview coming up and had some coaching sessions with Eilidh prior to the date.
It was interesting to go through her profiling questions and establish my strengths. It was an invaluable time to reflect and consider where I want to go and what to do next.
Am sure I got the job as a result of being more focused and more confident in my own capabilities.

She has just called to tell me she starts on Tuesday! What a great end to a great week.
Well done Sandra, you kept focused and never gave up! You deserve your success - and those fish and chips at the classy restaurant :)

Yeah, congrats Sandra, like Mags says and well done.
I am still looking -  one of the Jobseekers stats me - so what advice, tips can you share?
Glad you have a job tho' give us 'lookers' hope!
Sad to read High-heeled Diva's post on the student debt topic, isn't it.
Is it just luck?

Looking forward to hearing how Sandra got on with this first week back at work. Wonder how she found the benefits' schemes and help at the Jobcentres. Any advice she has to offer will be really useful.
Here are a few simple tips from me in the meantime:
Interviews normally start with developing rapport and setting the scene. Rapport type of questions come at the beginning. In fact chatting about the weather or something current can go on for some time. This is a vital part of the interview, because both the interviewer and interviewee are becoming more relaxed and feeling relaxed in each other’s company.
At the end of the day people offer posts to people that they want to work with. You don’t need to prepare answers to these types of questions. Answer in a friendly way and don’t be in a hurry to move on.
Typical rapport questions: How was your journey? Tell me about yourself...
